Parish Council – The next meeting of parish council will take place on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7pm. Venue is the Rector’s office in the lower hall. Minutes and agenda will be sent out this week.
The Bells of St. Helen’s – The next edition of our recently resurrected newsletter will be sent out by email late this week. Please look for it in your email inbox. For those not on email, there will be a limited number of hard copies available next Sunday.
Confirmation Programme – We are soon starting our confirmation programme that will see confirmation take place around Easter. Anyone who is interested should speak with our rector, Steve very soon.
Thank you To All Who Brought Items for SUM & the Food Bank We give thanks today and, in our thankfulness and gratefulness, we share the bounty of our lives with organizations that help people who are in great need especially the need of nutrition. So thankyou for what you have brought these last couple of Sundays. Please remember you can bring non-perishable food items any time an we will make sure it gets to the right place. Please remember, this Wednesday, October 16th is World Food Day. It is a time to pray for those who go hungry as well as to educate yourself about the plight of many which will help you make decisions on how you might help
The ACW Annual Dorcas Shower will take place at our meeting on Oct 16th. to receive layette items for The Bales (sent to Northern Parishes in BC & the Yukon) and other community organizations. Suggested items include: sleepers (6 – 24 months, blue, pink & yellow/green), onesies, hooded towels, receiving blankets, t-shirts and long pants). We appreciate your wonderful support. If you are unable to shop, we will gladly accept financial donations. For further details, please speak to Judy Nicholson
Mark Your Calendars All Souls Service – On Saturday, November 2nd at 11am a special service will take place to remember those whom we love but see no more. This is not just for members or families of those who are buried here at St. Helen’s but is open to anyone who has lost loved ones. The service will take place in the church and there will be candles available for people to place on graves of those buried here in our cemetery afterward. There will also be an opportunity to write names on ribbons to place these on the holly trees or on the fences of the cemetery.
Tri-Parish Youth Event – Saturday November 2nd will take place here at St. Helen’s. It was quite successful last year and we are getting everyone together again. There will be supper, games & activities in the hall and conclude with a time of prayer in the church.
Christmas Bazaar – Our Annual Bazaar will take place on Saturday, November 23rd. More information from Lynn Turner. Further details will be published in The Bells Newsletter.
Special Christmas Concert – Friday December 6th, 7pm in the church. Saskia & Darrel Delaronde will be performing a special concert for the season. Tickets are $20. More info in the newsletter
Parish Multicultural Carol Service – will take place on Sunday, December 8th at 7pm. Get your voices and groups ready and singing.
