               (this week only – for the rest of Lent this will take place on Tuesday mornings)  

Next Sunday – February 12th is Food Bank Sunday Please bring along-dated, non-perishable food item.  Proteins such as canned meats & fish, stews & baked beans are great.  

Lenten Programme – 2017 This year our Lenten programme will revolve around the hospitality of God and faith communities, integrating people into the family, and welcoming the stranger.  In addition, how do we recognize and welcome the gifts different people bring to our community and how can we be more accepting and caring for one another.  As with last year, we will have two different times: Tuesday mornings at 11am (except March 7th)             Begins with Morning Prayer in the Lady Chapel     Please Note – the morning gathering will take place Thursday, March 9th, this week only. And Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  (beginning with Evening Prayer in the chapel at 6:30pm) Each time will be covering the same material.  If you have to miss one at your preferred time, you can come along to the other. Both gatherings take place in the Rector’s office. In addition to these there will be special gatherings taking place throughout Lent for prayer and reflection.  Days, times and content will be updated each week.  

St. Helen’s ACW is preparing for their annual BUNNY RUN.  On Monday, April 10, we will go to the Surrey Food Bank and hand out Easter Gifts to the children and grandchildren of those in need in our community.  If you would like to support this project, donations of story books, colouring books, crayons, stickers, new, small to medium-sized stuffed animals, games and chalk for children ages 2 to 10 years old would be most welcome. We will also include a small amount of candy which has already been donated.  

Antique Valuation Day – APPRAISAL CLINIC April 1, 2017 - all you want to know is on a poster, available today - please take a poster and spread the word.  We will need lots of volunteer help and those opportunities will be listed next Sunday for sign-up.  PREVIOUSLY LOVED ART - if you have any donations please make sure that your name is on a piece of tape on the back of the picture - these will have a quick appraisal and all unsold will be returned.  ALSO can you loan us an easel of any kind or size - floor easels, table easels, cookbook easels, etc.?  See or call Lynn Turner for more information.  

Thank You from Lynn Turner – Thank you to the Wardens and Church Council for the recognition of my years of choir director with the huge cake at the Vestry meeting last Sunday.  Working along side each and every one of the members of our Parish is a privilege and brings many rewards. It's a new church season and each of us was asked at that meeting to consider where we would be able to put our own talents to use.  I urge every one to give this question serious thought and offer your gifts to a ministry at St. Helen's.  Every effort is needed and most appreciated.
