We look forward to welcoming you this Sunday, March 14th to our Livestream service at 10am for the 4th Sunday of Lent. Don't forget to put your clocks forward an hour on Saturday evening. You know you wouldn't want to be late for church! We are half way through Lent now as we make our way to Holy Week. We pray for God's blessing on us all as we make our journey both together and individually.
Our Focus Today - Do we pay attention to signs of warning and guidance? Here are two signs of warning. One sign is found at the Othello Tunnels near Hope, BC as a warning that the river is very treacherous. The other sign is the area of Whistler set as a warning that going outside the boundaries can be hazardous and dangerous. We hear many stories in the news of those who do not heed the signage. Today we think about the people of Israel in the wilderness who have been bitten by snakes and some died. They are told to look at the serpent made of bronze lifted up on the pole. To look at it is to be healed. It is a reminder that there are dangers around as well as a reminder of seeking the guidance of God in all that that they do and to return to the Holy One when they have gone astray. The Gospel of John makes reference that Jesus will be lifted up like as was the serpent was in the time of Moses. The implication is to look to the One on the cross and call upon the name of the Lord for salvation. The cross is good signage in treacherous places. It is there to keep us safe, guiding us on right pathways for our life. The sign of the cross for us reminds us that with Christ, we are safe, restored, and healed. Look at the cross every day. Remember and reflect upon who you are to God who seeks the well being of all His children.
